Marcus' Story: Rebuilding with Purpose

When Marcus (name changed for privacy) first came to C-U at Home, he was carrying everything he owned in a backpack and didn’t trust anyone. Years of couch-surfing, addiction, and broken relationships had left him isolated and angry.

But he still had hope.

Thanks to an opening in our Pathways to Progress program, Marcus found more than just a roof over his head—he found consistency, community, and people who didn’t give up on him.

Learning to Start Over

Marcus joined our Pathways to Progress program, started attending recovery meetings, and took on chores around the house. It wasn’t easy—trust took time, and there were setbacks. But through prayer, counseling, and accountability, Marcus kept going.

Last month, Marcus celebrated one full year of sobriety. Even better? He was hired full-time where he had been working just 20 hours/week, and moved into his own apartment!

That’s the power of second chances.
