One Winter Night

FIRST WEEKEND IN FEBRUARY EVERY YEAR

What is One Winter Night?

One Winter Night is an annual event that provides a powerful opportunity for our community to learn about homelessness, build empathy for the people we serve, and discover ways to partner with us in our mission. This year’s event took place Friday, February 3 at The Venue CU in downtown Champaign, on campus at the University of Illinois, and at Trinity Community Fellowship in Farmer City. An additional remote event was held on Saturday, February 25 at St. Joseph United Methodist Church.

The Venue CU serves as the primary community location where people can participate in the simulation experience (staying outside in tents, makeshift shelters, or cars). They also host our evening program inside from 7-9 pm for both simulation participants and anyone in the community who is interested in just attending the program. You can view the OWN 2023 evening program on our YouTube channel.

Those who wish to participate in the simulation experience as a fundraiser can click on the button below (activated in December prior to each year’s event). Bring a tent, your own shelter-making materials, or stay in your car in the parking lot. Simulation activities will end at midnight. Those interested in just attending the evening program can indicate their interest by going to the Facebook Event page.

One Winter Night is an evening of empathy-building, frigid fellowship, and an engaging program! Click on the buttons below to learn more about each aspect of the event!
