C-U at Home Phoenix Coordinator
C-U at Home, a grassroots ministry based in Champaign, Illinois, engages and mobilizes the local community to house and support the most vulnerable homeless on their journey of healing and restoration.
The Phoenix Coordinator will lead the day-to-day operations of the Daytime Drop-In Center (the Phoenix). This focus of this position will be spending a significant amount of time focused on interacting with the public—our friends, volunteers, staff, interns, etc. The Phoenix Coordinator should be a positive representative for the ministry of C-U at Home, as well as an advocate for those who are in a homeless situation. This position reports to the Administrative Director.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
• Foster a positive, encouraging, grace-centered environment at the Phoenix while implementing the theories outlined in Toxic Charity and When Helping Hurts.
• Build relationships with our friends without an address; provide case management as needed.
• Provide on-going orientation and training for new/existing friends from the community.
• Coordinate and supervise Phoenix Assistant, interns, friends from the community, and student volunteer groups.
• Develop and maintain a system for gathering feedback from our friends without an address and our friends from the community
• Oversee computer lab operations.
• Work with Administrative Director to maintain adequate supplies and equipment for The Phoenix and all of its associated activities.
• Maintain the Phoenix facility including regular daily and weekly cleaning and sanitizing as well as monthly deep cleaning, and facilitate needed maintenance and repairs.
• Work closely with all C-U at Home staff members to provide the best possible services to our friends without an address.
• Stay in regular communication, including occasional weekend and after-hours calls, texts, emails and meetings to coordinate Drop-In Center activities and support the mission of C-U at Home.
• REQUIRED: Participate in all major events. This includes extra hours the four (4) weeks prior to and the week following an event, as well as full participation during each event.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications: The Phoenix Coordinator should have a minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, Human Services, Human Resources, or related field. Experience, including personal experience, with marginalized populations and those suffering from substance abuse, mental health issues and homelessness is beneficial to this position. This team member should possess a high degree of professionalism and have the ability multi-task and problem-solve efficiently.
Compensation Commensurate with experience and qualifications.
